Houjicha (hor-jee-cha) is a roasted, flavoursome green tea that has lingering savoury, toasty notes, and a beautiful golden-brown liquor. Houjicha starts off as a steamed green tea however the leaves go through an additional step of roasting during processing, which transforms the flavour profile from vegetal to roasted and nutty. If you’re a black tea drinker, this is a good entry point for your green tea journey. Enjoy Houjicha with meals or at any time of the day. It also makes an excellent base for an iced green tea creations and can be cold brewed easily.
