A flavoursome and comforting roasted tea with a nutty, toasty finish

Japanese Australian Grown Houjicha (hor-jee-cha) is a roasted, flavoursome green tea that has lingering savoury, toasty notes, and a beautiful golden-brown liquor. Houjicha starts off as a steamed green tea however the leaves go through an additional step of roasting during processing, which transforms the flavour profile from vegetal to roasted and nutty. If you’re a black tea drinker, this is a good entry point for your green tea journey. Enjoy Houjicha with meals or at any time of the day. It also makes an excellent base for an iced green tea creations and can be cold brewed easily.

HOW TO BREW HOJICHA TEA

Serve: 1 teaspoon per cup of water (250ml)
Water temperature: 60° – 70°
Steeping time: 3 minutes

Remove leaves from pot before drinking. Never use boiling water when brewing.

Houjicha

I learned about this tea from a library book which suggested it is a good tea to have with food. And it is. I enjoy it that way but it is also a good sipping tea with a lot of character. In fact, I'm going to make some right now! Delicious.

Houjicha green tea is a great alternative to other green teas available if you don't like grassiness but still want to enjoy the benefits of green tea. Houjicha has a beautiful, toasted aroma and smooth taste. I love it.

A lovely refreshing green tea … grown in Australia!

Refreshing tea to have after meals, not too bitter, and mostly environmental packaging although miss the steel top that used to come with the brand that would negate the need to use the plastic bag for the tea inside the canister?
